Face Balm

from $16.00
Size:

A face balm that feels rich without sitting heavy — soft enough to scoop with a fingertip, light enough to disappear into the skin. An intentional variety of plant oils and botanicals working quietly to leave skin softer, smoother, and a more radiant than it was.

How to use

Soft enough to scoop with a fingertip; no need to warm it for long. Massage gently into skin: the whole face on days you want extra care, or targeted areas (under eyes, around the mouth, along fine lines) when you want a more focused application. Best at night, but light enough for daytime use under makeup.

Key ingredients

  • Jojoba, grape seed, and argan for lightweight, absorbent nourishment

  • Pumpkin, sea buckthorn, and rosehip for antioxidant support and a brighter, radiant complexion

  • Marula, baobab, and squalane for soft, supple, smoother-looking (and feeling) skin

  • Frankincense and lavender for soothing botanical character and a quiet, calming scent

  • I wasn't a balm person before this one. The idea of putting balm on my face seemed like too much — too thick, too occlusive, too much work to warm and spread. Then a friend, who's a nurse practitioner with a dermatology background and an aesthetic practice, sent me home with a sample, and within a few days I understood. The right balm isn't heavy at all. It's soft in the pot, blends into skin like it is meant to be there, and leaves behind softness, smoothness, and a quiet glow — without the slick, top-of-the-skin feel I'd associated with balms.

So I built one of my own in that spirit. Carefully chosen plant oils and botanicals for what each one does on its own and how they work together. Argan and jojoba for absorbent, supple nourishment. Pumpkin seed, sea buckthorn, and rosehip for antioxidant support and a calmer, brighter more radiant complexion. Marula and baobab for soft, well-hydrated skin, and work to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Squalane for that quiet smoothness it brings to everything. And a small amount of emulsifying components — the same approach used in the lotion bar — so the rich oils actually sink in instead of resting on top.

  • Balms and creams do different work. Creams use water to carry water-soluble actives like vitamins, peptides, and hyaluronic acid; balms concentrate lipid nourishment without water dilution. Both belong in a thoughtful routine.

Use this balm when skin asks for concentrated softening, smoothing, and quiet radiance; on the whole face or on targeted areas where fine lines, dryness, or sensitivity want attention. It blends in easily, never sits heavy, and leaves a soft glow behind.

  • A soft, complex botanical blend — lavender and ylang ylang for floral warmth, frankincense and rosemary CO2 for resinous, herbal depth. The essential oils make up a small portion of the formula, so the scent is quiet rather than perfumey. Calming to apply.

  • There sure are a lot of oils in this balm! Each oil is here for a specific reason. Pumpkin seed brings omega-3 and zinc, sea buckthorn brings carotenoids and vitamin C, marula and baobab bring deep hydration, rosehip brings radiance, squalane brings softness, frankincense brings botanical depth. Each one contributes a different fatty acid profile or skin-active compound. Together they cover more ground than any single oil could.

The emulsifying components are what set this balm apart from most others ; they keep it from sitting on top of skin and let all those rich oils actually do their work.

    • Available in 5 g (travel), 10 g (everyday), and 15 g (committed) — all in glass jars.

    • A small amount goes a long way; balm is concentrated

    • Suitable for all skin types, including oily or combination skin, but is especially good for dry, mature, or weather-sensitive skin. The oils are noncomedogenic, so won’t clog your pores.

    • The face balm contains a small amount of preservative which helps keep the balm safe through repeated fingertip use. Pure oil products don't require this; but it’s a good idea for products that get dipped into.

    • Store in a cool, dry place — the balm will soften in warm weather and firm back up
